Dear TeachUsTech’ers,

This week’s TeachUsTech newsletter shows you how to turn Airplane Mode on and off on an iPhone. This can be helpful when you are flying or when you want to quickly pause your phone’s wireless connections. This guide walks you through the simple steps to find Airplane Mode in Control Center and switch it on or off.

These newsletters are made to be printed and kept nearby, so feel free to mark them up and write your own notes in the margins. If you have a friend that would appreciate this but don’t know how to forward emails yet, you can view our very first newsletter here on “How to Forward an Email”.

What You’ll Learn

• how to open Control Center
• how to turn Airplane Mode on
• how to turn it off again

Before you begin

Airplane Mode turns off your cellular connection. On many iPhones, it can also turn off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth until you switch them back on.

This is useful on a plane or any time you want to pause your wireless connections.

Step 1 – Open Control Center

On newer iPhones, swipe down from the top-right corner. On older iPhones, swipe up from the bottom edge.

Step 2 – Tap the airplane button

When the airplane button is highlighted, Airplane Mode is on. To turn it off, open Control Center again and tap the airplane button one more time.

Tech Tip

If you still want Wi-Fi on while using Airplane Mode, you can turn Wi-Fi back on after Airplane Mode is enabled.

Final Thought

Airplane Mode is also a good quick reset if your phone connection is acting strange.
