Dear TeachUsTech’ers,

This week’s TeachUsTech newsletter shows you how to use Do Not Disturb on an iPhone. This is a great way to quiet calls, texts, and notifications when you want fewer interruptions. This guide walks you through the easy steps to turn Do Not Disturb on and off using the Focus controls on your iPhone.

These newsletters are made to be printed and kept nearby, so feel free to mark them up and write your own notes in the margins. If you have a friend that would appreciate this but don’t know how to forward emails yet, you can view our very first newsletter here on “How to Forward an Email”.

What You’ll Learn

• how to open Control Center
• how to turn on Do Not Disturb
• how to turn it off again

Before you begin

Do Not Disturb is part of Focus on iPhone.
It is useful when you are sleeping, in a meeting, in a movie, or just need a quiet break.

Step 1 – Open the control center

On newer iPhones, swipe down from the top-right corner. On older iPhones, swipe up from the bottom edge.

Step 2 – Tap focus

In Control Center, tap the Focus button. This opens the list of Focus options.

Step 2 – Tap Do Not Disturb

When Do Not Disturb is highlighted, it is on. To turn it off later, open Focus again and tap Do Not Disturb.

Tech Tip

If another Focus is already on, turning on Do Not Disturb will replace it.

Final Thought

Do Not Disturb is a great way to get some quiet without turning your whole phone off.
